Year 3 2018 - 2019

Miss Edwards

Year 3 teacher

Welcome to Year 3!

I hope that you have all enjoyed your summer holidays and are looking forward to a brand new year of learning.

During our first half-term, we will be studying a range of texts in our English lessons in order to produce a range of written outcomes. As I'm sure you have heard, we have started by using The True Story of The Three Little Pigs as our key text and we are working towards producing a newspaper article for our final written outcome. In maths, we have begun with a unit on number and place value, which will help to lay the foundations for the rest of our learning in maths this year. Together, the children and I are exploring a unit of work based on forces and magnets in science and in topic we are trying to determine what makes the earth angry, so a lot of our learning will be very much focussed around volcanoes and earthquakes.

I appreciate that this year will be a huge change and a significant challenge for the children as they leave Key Stage 1 in order to continue their learning journies in Key Stage 2, but I am confident that they will adapt and grow, especially in terms of independence. The children have already started to take responsibility for their own learning and that of their classmates and this is is something that we will continue to work on throughout the year. Please remind your children that their books bags, reading books, PE kit, snack money, uniform and letters are their responsibility and therefore they need to look after them.

If you have any questions regarding your child's learning then please feel free to come and speak with me! I am available at the beginning and at the end of the school day to answer any minor questions. If you feel you need a longer meeting please don't hesistate to contact school.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Edwards
