Year 4 teacher
Welcome to the Year 4 class page!
I hope that you have all had a wonderful Easter holidays! Now that we have returned to school, I hope that the children are looking forward to a brand new term of learning because I definitely am! I am extremely excited to be teaching the Year 4 for a third term and that is because of the outstanding children that I am teaching everyday!
To view our Year 4 long-term overview, please see the files section at the bottom of this page. This will outline the topics for each term, for each area of the curriculum.
Day to Day
Please send your child to school with a suitable jacket, sun hat, sun cream and a water bottle each day.
Our PE days will be Tuesday and Thursday for rounders and dance, this half term. However, please send their full it in at the start of the week incase their are any extra activities (especially with it being the Summer Term).
Please send your child in with a water bottle each day. This will be sent home daily for washing and refilling.
The children are encoruaged to bring their own healthy snack in for break times, however, school will provide snack at a small charge, if required.
All reading books and journals need to be in school every day. Please try to read at least three times a week with your child. Regular reading practice at home can help to improve your child's reading, spelling, vocabulary and writing so it is very important. ACORN points are on offer for each occasion your child reads at home.
Reading will take place every afternoon, with our specialist-trained reading assistants. For more information on how you can support your child's reading at home, please see the following link: https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/reading-age-8-9-year-4/
Homework for Literacy and Maths will be sent out every Friday and is due back the following Wednesday. Spellings are giving on a weekly basis and will be sent home on a Friday. The spellings will focus on a specific rule. Assessments are completed on Wednesday morning.
Alongside our homework each week, I will be setting a stand-alone homework quest that should be completed over the course of a few weeks - details can be found on this page along with our curriculum map!
