Super Troopers!School News
Having successfully completed their 12 week ‘Challenger Troop’ core programme, our team of mini troopers put on their uniforms for the last time as they proudly shared their experiences with parents, teachers and pupils during their award ceremony.
Over the past 3 months, the students have enjoyed the multi-activity course which has included amongst other things: First Aid, Fitness Training, Camouflage and Concealment, Conservation and a residential camp.
As part of a pilot scheme organised by Challenger Troop Cheshire, each stage of the students’ journey has been documented in a weekly blog which has not only been followed by parents but also by Nicky Morgan, Secretary of State for Education, who mentioned it at a recent conference!
Speaking about the young troopers, Sergeant Katy Bowen said, “Over the past 12 weeks, we have watched them overcome their fears, challenge both their minds and bodies and achieve things they never thought they could.”
Mini trooper Murphy received the ‘Top Student Award’. This award was presented not only for 100% effort each week, but also the young trooper’s willingness to help everyone, including the Sergeants; for his excellent manners and the fact that his overriding aim was to better himself rather than be in direct competition with his team mates.
