It was smiles all round from six of our pupils as they were presented with a medal and certificate for completing this year’s ‘Big Friendly Read Summer Reading Challenge’

This year, the project linked up with the global year-long Roald Dahl 100 celebrations, honouring the world’s No.1 storyteller.  It featured some of Roald Dahl’s best-loved characters and the amazing artwork of his principal illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake, encouraging reading on a giant scale and featuring themes such as invention, mischief and friendship as explored in Roald Dahl’s books.

Between them, they read over thirty six books during their summer holidays; a  worthwhile contribution to almost 600,000 that were read across the country!

Mrs Williams said, ‘As a school we are committed to raising standards in reading. These pupils are a fabulous example to us all as we strive to achieve excellence in everything!
