Summer Book Challenge
It was smiles all round from six pupils at Palace Fields Primary School as they were presented with a medal and certificate for completing this year’s ‘Big Friendly Read Summer Reading Challenge’
This year, the project linked up with the global year-long Roald Dahl 100 celebrations, honouring the world’s No.1 storyteller. It featured some of Roald Dahl’s best-loved characters and the amazing artwork of his principal illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake, encouraging reading on a giant scale and featuring themes such as invention, mischief and friendship as explored in Roald Dahl’s books.
Between them, the six Palace Fields pupils read over thirty six books during their summer holidays; a worthwhile contribution to almost 600,000 that were read across the country.
Executive Principal Mrs Williams said, ‘As a school we are committed to raising standards in reading. These pupils are a fabulous example to us all as we strive to achieve excellence in everything!
