Year 4

Mr Carrington

Year 4 class teacher

Welcome to the Year 4 Class Page!

"Learning and growing together!”

Hopefully, you have all had a fantastic summer break full of fun, laughter and relaxing. I'm sure we are all ready and raring to go for another year of learning, memorable experiences and development at Palace Fields; academically, socially and emotionally. As always, our autumn term will be incredibly busy, however, I can't wait to show you what we've got in store for you!

Each day, we expect our pupils to demonstrate our school values (KIT - Kindness, Integrity and Tenacity) in all that they do, whilst showing mutual respect and tolerance to one another too.

To view our Year 4 curriculum overview, please see the files section at the bottom of this page. This document will outline the topics for each term, for each area of the curriculum.

In addition to this, you will find the Year 4 autumn term timetable, autumn term homework quest and our autumn term knowledge organisers.

Key Information

Uniform

Our pupils should arrive at school in full school uniform, including suitable all-black footwear. Please can you ensure that your child's uniform is clearly labelled with their name. We will always encourage children to be responsible for their own belongings whilst in school. For PE, the children require a white t-shirt, black/navy shorts and pumps/trainers for every lesson.

Reading

At Palace Fields, we have set the expectation that children are reading at home every day, as well as having their reading books in school with them every day. Our school library is open to the children every break time for them to take books out, and then swap them, once they have finished. Personally, I would love to see the children bringing in their own books so that we can continue to build a positive reading culture in Year 4.

Our class book for this half term is The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snickett

Homework

Homework will be set every Thursday with the expectation that it will be back in school the following Tuesday. Alongside our homework each week, I will be set a stand-alone homework quest that should be completed over the course of a few weeks - details of this can be found in the document section at the bottom of this page.

Our PE days this half term will be Monday and Friday. For PE lessons and extracurricular sports clubs, children require a white top, black/navy shorts and pumps/trainers.

Snack is available in school (milk and toast). If your child is having school snack, we ask that it is brought in on Monday morning in an envelope with your child's name and the amount clearly shown. For both milk and toast, it is £3.00 for the week (60p per day).

Water Bottles

We encourage children to bring a labelled reusable bottle of water to school daily to keep them hydrated throughout their lessons. The children will have many opportunities throughout the day to have a drink of water. Please remember that juice is not permitted in water bottles stored in class but may be consumed with their snack at break time and packed lunch at lunchtime.
